Simple Daily Rituals to Detoxify your Body

In our world filled with processed foods and environmental toxins, it’s more important than ever to take care of our bodies by incorporating daily detox practices. Detoxification is the process of eliminating harmful substances from the body, allowing it to function at its optimal level. While intense detox programs can be exhausting, there are simple and effective ways to support your body’s natural detoxification processes on a daily basis. I do recommend an annual parasite cleanse and occasional fasting to cleanse your body and rid it of heavy metals and toxins. If that seems too intense for you, here are a list of simple ways to detox your body daily. 

1. Hydrate with Lemon Water:

Start your day by squeezing fresh lemon juice into a glass of water. Lemon water helps to alkalize the body and stimulate digestion, making it an excellent way to kick start your detoxification process each morning. When I don’t have fresh lemon, I use lemon essential oil and it does the trick!  I also am a huge fan of ionized water, I add lemon to a glass of 9.5 PH water to maximize the detoxification.

2. Eat Detoxifying Foods:

Incorporate foods rich in antioxidants, fiber, and nutrients into your daily meals. Vegetables like broccoli, spinach, and kale, as well as fruits like berries and citrus fruits, support liver function and promote detoxification. Eating a variety of colourful whole foods each day, allows your body to receive and absorb an abundance of vitamins and minerals, therefore helping your immune system to be as strong as possible and ready to battle toxins.

3. Move Your Body/Sweat

Exercise not only improves circulation and lymphatic flow but also supports the body’s natural detox mechanisms. Aim to move your body every day, whether it’s through yoga, walking, dancing, or any form of physical activity you can fit into your daily life. Sweat allows toxins to be released so ensuring that sweat a minimum of once per day, puts you on track to optimal detoxification.


4. Practice Deep Breathing:

Deep breathing techniques such as diaphragmatic breathing can help the body eliminate toxins through the lungs. Take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath, inhaling deeply through your nose and exhaling fully through your mouth. This also allows you to clear your mind and rid your body of stress.  Whenever I am stressed, I try to take a moment to close my eyes and focus on my breathing, allowing the stress to flow from my body.

5. Get Sufficient Sleep:

Quality sleep is essential for the body to repair and rejuvenate. Aim for 7-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep each night to support your body’s detoxification process. As a new mom, I totally understand that this is not always possible.  If your little one is not sleeping through the night yet, aim for a minimum of  7 hours of sleep, even if it is interrupted. Go to bed early if needed, instead of binge-watching your shows, get a good nights sleep. Everything else can wait, they will be sleeping through the night before you know it!   Focusing on obtaining a proper sleep is one of the most important things for your mind and body. 

6. Incorporate Detoxifying Supplements:

Activated Charcoal:
Activated charcoal is a powerful natural substance known for its ability to adsorb toxins and chemicals in the body. It binds to toxins in the gut, preventing their absorption and facilitating their elimination through the digestive tract. Not to mention, it is an incredible all-natural teeth whitener.  After brushing my teeth with a fluoride-free tooth paste, I dip my clean toothbrush into a jar of activated charcoal and brush my teeth for a few minutes, swishing it around in my mouth then spitting it out.  My teeth are always sparkling, without the need for chemical whiteners.

Zeolite:
Zeolite is a volcanic mineral with a unique crystalline structure that allows it to trap heavy metals and other toxins. Adding zeolite supplements to your daily routine can support detoxification by assisting in the removal of harmful substances and parasites from the body. See below for my favourite zeolite supplement. 

Chlorella:
Chlorella is a nutrient-dense freshwater algae rich in chlorophyll, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. This superfood supports detoxification by binding to heavy metals and toxins in the body and aiding in their elimination. Incorporate chlorella powder into your daily smoothies or meals for an added detox boost. Adding it to a smoothie is a great way to help your child obtain their daily nutrients as it has a minimal taste when blended with fruit. 

When combined with the previously mentioned detox practices, incorporating activated charcoal, zeolite, and chlorella supplements can enhance your body’s natural detoxification processes and support overall health and well-being. As always, what works for me may not always work for you so ensure you are always listening to your body and check with your healthcare provider if you are unsure. 

By implementing these simple daily habits, you can support your body’s natural detoxification processes and promote overall health and well-being. Remember, small consistent changes can lead to significant results in the long run. By detoxing your body on a daily basis, you will find an increase of vitality and energy, strengthened immune system and overall improvement in your health.

We began baby led weaning when he was six months old and our food journey has been nothing short of wonderful. This kid will eat practically everything I offer him (except broccoli). My goal is to share our journey and offer some support to new mamas and to assist with making their babies transition to food go smoothly. I also want to help mamas take care of themselves by supporting them with holistic nutrition consulting and meal planning. Mama’s health is just as important as babies, we must set a good example for our children by being the absolute best version of ourselves, they are always watching!
